About the Organ Procurement Organizations
New Jersey Organ and Tissue Sharing Network (NJ Sharing Network) and Gift of Life Donor Program (GOLDP) are organ procurement organizations (OPOs).
OPOs are federally-funded, state-certified non-profit organizations responsible for the recovery and placement of donated organs. All OPOs are part of the national United Network for Organ Sharing (UNOS) recovery system.
NJ Sharing Network serves central and northern New Jersey. GOLDP is responsible for the seven southern-most counties.
NJ Sharing Network and GOLDP are also participants in the national Donor Designation Collaborative (DDC), which is working to increase the number of actionable donor designations in the United States from 60 million to 100 million by April 2008.
